(program residensi Hysteria)
Kandang // Tandang merupakan program residensi “ke dalam” dan “ke luar” yang difasilitasi Hysteria bagi para seniman maupun kreator untuk proyek artistik. Ke dalam (Kandang) artinya partisipan dari luar Semarang akan tinggal, berbagi pengetahuan, metode, teknik serta berkarya di Hysteria. Sedangkan, ke luar (Tandang) adalah partisipan dari Semarang akan difasilitasi untuk berproses dalam kurun waktu tertentu di luar kota lunpia ini.
Putaran kedua Hysteria mengajak Waftlab, sebuah kolektif seni dari Surabaya menjalani residensi sepanjang Juni ini di Semarang. Mereka akan berproses dan berkolaborasi dengan para partisipan yang terpilih untuk pameran bersama di Grobak Art Kos | Hysteria pada akhir Juni mendatang.
Waft Lab
Waft Lab is an interdisciplinary initiative based in Surabaya, Indonesia, driven by the do-it-yourself spirit encompassing art, subculture, science, and technology. Since 2011, Waft Lab has organized various activities including workshops, discussions, exhibitions, and festivals with the objective of fostering fresh ideas and establishing sustainable collective networks. Situated in Surabaya, one of the big cities in Indonesia known for its industrial landscape and abundant waste, we integrate this representative lifestyle into our creative process. Hacking, tweaking, and reconstructing are integral to our daily culture as we navigate and overcome limitations inherent in our surroundings.
Helmi Hardian
Helmi Hardian is a grassroots artist and ghetto scientist, with a specific interest in cooking and smoking at the same time. He lives in Surabaya, the city that is well known for its industry and technology, as well as being the center of electronic component trading (chiefly, Pasar Genteng). Hence, almost all of his works are closely related to science and technology as the medium of creativity. He is the co-founder of Waft Lab, a creative-based initiative that works at interdisciplinary practices. Currently, he focuses on tech development through DIY/DIWO culture and playing his role in researching, hacking, or deconstructing daily materials to provide some devices with new functional aspects, as well as developing workshop kits, lecturing contents, and presentation materials, which aim to learn, share, and exchange knowledge.
